Makhdoom Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani took the oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on 25 March 2008. 

Makhdoom Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani  was born in Karachi on June 9, 1952. Mr. Gillani received early education at St. Mary's School and La Salle High School in Multan. He graduated with BA in 1970 and MA in Journalism from University of the Punjab in 1976. 

Makhdoom Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani joined the Pakistan Peoples Party in 1988. He has been elected several times as Member of National Assembly from Multan.Mr. Gillani has held posts of Federal Minister for Housing & Works, Railways and Tourism.In 1993 Mr. Gillani was elected as the Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan, till February 1997. His conduct as Speaker of the National Assembly showed him as a mature and unprejudiced political umpire who was committed to the democratic traditions.
