Foreign
Ministry: President orders setting up of Economic Diplomacy Wing;
President Asif Ali Zardari has asked the government to establish
Economic Diplomacy Wing (EDW) at the Foreign Ministry to be headed
by a senior officer for furthering economic interests of the country
as an essential component of the foreign policy. The government
should take measures to ask the international community to fulfill
its pledges made for providing assistance to internally displaced
persons (IDPs) of Malakand division, President Zardari said while
addressing a meeting held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad to review
the follow up progress of the two separate meetings of Donors
and the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) in Tokyo in April
last.

Discussions
on closer economic cooperation: Medvedev, Karzai, Zardari to meet
this month;
The leaders of Russia, Afghanistan and Pakistan are scheduled
to meet in the Tajik capital Dushanbe later this month in an effort
to boost regional co-operation, the Tajik authorities said. Dmitry
Medvedev of Russia, Emomali Rakhmon of Tajikistan, President Asif
Ali Zardari and Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan are scheduled to meet
on
July 29 and 30 "for discussions of closer economic co-operation,"
said a Tajik foreign ministry spokesman.

Property
developers urged to tap Pakistan's construction sector;
Pakistan is fast becoming the destination of choice for Malaysian
investors with its "lucrative incentives", revealed
a study by several Malaysian businessmen following a recent visit
to the republic. Datuk Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, who is the honorary
investment counselor of Board of Investment of Pakistan based
in Malaysia, urged property developers to be among the first to
tap Pakistan's construction market due to the strong demand for
modern property developments.

electricity consumers by cutting current expenditures of civil
administration.

Govt.
to disclose oil pricing formula;
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources
Dr Asim Hussain has said the government would make public the
oil pricing formula on Thursday, which will clarify how much the
government is taxing the people. “This will make it clear the
government is not extorting money from the public,” he said.

Several
power projects near done;
Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said
that different power projects are near completion and government
would complete them before the scheduled time. Talking to PTV,
he reiterated government's resolve to end the menace of load shedding
on permanent basis by end of this year.
He said the government is taking alternative steps to ensure the
resumption of power generation from Mangla power station on permanent
basis.

Record
rice export fetches $2bn;
The country earned $2.044 billion by exporting record 2.930 million
tons of rice thanks to a bumper crop of over six million tons
during the last fiscal year 2008-09.
