UK
assures support in getting GSP Plus arrangement from EU: Miliband
meets Zardari, Gilani;
British government would extend full support to Pakistan in getting
GSP Plus arrangement from the European Union and for initiating
negotiations on free trade agreement, said British Foreign Secretary
David Miliband. "I am fully convinced that Pakistan's genuine
requirement at this crucial hour of need is enhanced market access
abroad and the world community should realise this and support
Pakistan to gain market space," Miliband said while talking
to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani
in separate meetings.

Investment
target of $10 bln will be achieved: Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan;
The Federal Minister for Investment, Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan
said that the ministry would achieve its $10 billion investment
target by year end. Talking to journalists, the Federal Minister
said that the ministry has already attracted investment of $5
billion so far.

China
MCC may invest $2.2bn in PSM;
China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC) has shown interest
in investing $2.2 billion for the expansion and revamping of Pakistan
Steel Mills (PSM). A twelve member delegation of MCC headed by
Huan, met with the Federal Minister for Industries and Production
Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, and discussed various proposals in
detail.

Sarkozy
to visit Pakistan for finalizing global partnership accord;
The French President Nicolas Sarkozy will visit
Pakistan by the end of this year to finalize an agreement of global
partnership under which access of Pakistani businesses to the
global market would be further strengthened besides advancement
in the technology. The French Economic and Commercial Counsellor
Dominique Simon revealed this while speaking at the Lahore Chamber
of Commerce and Industry.

Pakistan,
Germany sign MoU on clean development mechanism;
Pakistan and Germany has signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) at a ceremony held
at the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation
and nuclear safety. The MoU was signed by Ambassador Shahid Kamal
on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, Government of Pakistan
and
State Secretary Mathias Machnig, on behalf of the German Ministry
of Environment.

China
to set up economic zone in NWFP;
Provincial Minister for Industries Syed Ahmad Hussain has said
that China would establish Pak-China Economic Zone (PCEZ) in Hattar
Industrial area on 500 acres of land. “I am optimistic that following
the launching of PCEZ, the terrorism stricken industry of NWFP
would once again flourish under the mega project,” said Ahmad
Shah while talking to reporters in Balakot after attending a seminar
in Shograin.

Nepal
wants to establish economic, trade ties with Pakistan;
Nepal wants to establish reasonable business and economic ties
with Pakistan, expressed Ambassador of Nepal, Bala Bahadur Kunwar,
on the eve of a meeting held within the Faisalabad Chamber of
Commerce and Industry. Both nations should take steps for mutual
confidence-building.
While bringing the business community of Faisalabad into confidence,
he said, that there was no risk involved in investing in Nepal.
It was a pleasant fact that Nepal and Pakistan were close to each
other politically, culturally and linguistic.

Indonesia
invites traders for exhibition;
Indonesia has invited Pakistani traders for the October exhibition
so that bilateral trade between both countries can grow. Indonesian
Consul General Mustaqeem while addressing the traders at the main
office of Karachi Wholesalers Grocers Association (KWGA) said
that his country is making efforts to facilitate the Pakistani
traders about the import and export items.
